This study will analyze the effects of implementing a management routine at randomly chosen sewing lines within garment factories in Bangladesh in order to obtain evidence on the sources of observed productivity spillover within factories. This intervention is designed to obtain additional evidence on the sources of productivity spillovers within firms.
Daily productivity of a line on the first X days it produces a garment which it has not produced before. This is measured in 3 ways: Firms' own production monitoring measure: (piece-wise output X garment-specific "Standard Minute Value") divided by (number of workers on the line X number of daily hours the line was operating X 60 minutes). Output minutes. Average hourly output minutes per day.
