 ABOUT THE IGL RESEARCH NETWORK

1. What is the IGL Research Network?
   The IGL Research Network is an open community of researchers dedicated to advancing knowledge in science, innovation, and productivity through experimental research. Our mission is to lower the barriers to experimental research by creating opportunities and supporting the development of all researchers interested in experimental research in this field, broadening access to those from diverse and disadvantaged backgrounds.

2. Does the IGL Research Network provide funding?
   Yes, the IGL Research Network provides funding through the following programs:

   Seed Grants: Seed Grants are designed to lower barriers for high-impact experimental research by enabling more junior researchers to design studies. These small grants offer researchers an opportunity to develop collaborations and receive feedback on their trial designs before launching their studies. Twice a year, a competitive call for proposals is held, offering up to eight grants annually, each ranging from $5,000 to $8,000.

   Annual Prizes: Annual Prizes aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding experimental research, promoting knowledge advancement by highlighting studies that have made significant contributions to the field. Each year, four studies are selected for their impactful research and awarded $2,000 each. The nomination period occurs in Q3 each year, with winners announced at the Prize Award ceremony during the annual CFXS conference.

3. How do I engage with other Researchers in the Network?
   You can engage with other researchers in the network through the following avenue:

   CFXS Annual Conference: The CFXS Annual Conference convenes researchers to share the latest findings and insights from new studies and experiments in the field. It also provides a platform where early-stage Randomised Controlled Trial (RCT) designs can receive valuable feedback before field implementation. The conference is held once a year during Q3. This year, the conference will be held at INSEAD on December 19-20 2024.

4. How do I engage with other IGL Partners (e.g. policymakers, foundations, etc.)? 
   Matchmaking: The Matchmaking initiative facilitates connections and fosters collaborations between the IGL Research Network and IGL Government Partners, including policymakers and entities interested in experimental research. This initiative targets network members and policymakers eager to engage in experimental research in this field. To sign up, register your interest here

    

ABOUT THE APPLICATION PROCESS AND ELIGIBILITY 

1. How do I become part of the IGL Research Network?
   To join the IGL Research Network, please submit an application through this link. To join the IGL Research Network, please submit an application through this link. The form takes approximately 5-10 minutes to complete and will ask for basic information about you, your research interests, your experience with conducting RCTs (Randomised Controlled Trials), and your reasons for wanting to join the network.
    
2.  Does the IGL Network consider applications from any specific research areas?
   We welcome applications from researchers in any field. The key criterion is that your research topic broadly aligns with some of the network’s themes (such as science, innovation, entrepreneurship, productivity or strategy) and that you are generally interested in experimental research (even if you have never conducted an RCT yet). 3.  When is the next round of applications?
    Applications for the IGL Research Network are assessed on a rolling basis. There is no deadline to apply so we always welcome new applications from interested researchers.
    
4. Is there a cost attached to applying?
    No, there is no cost, application fee or similar to apply to the IGL Research Network.
    
5. How are applications assessed?
   ​The IGL Research Network is open to all researchers interested in experimental research, regardless of career stage. Applications are assessed based on the following criteria:

   - Complete Application: All required questions are thoroughly answered.

   - Research Relevance: Your research interests should align with IGL’s work.

   - Profile Fit: Applicants should be actively involved in academic or peer-reviewed research.

   - Interest in Joining: There should be a genuine interest in contributing to and benefiting from the network.

   Applications are assessed by the IGL team and the Scientific Directors that oversee this programme.
