Project
Business Basics Programme
The Business Basics Programme applied a new approach to tackling the longstanding challenge of low productivity amongst SMEs in the UK. Business-support providers and researchers were invited to come forward and test their answers to promoting adoption of proven technologies and management practices among SMEs. Adopting an experimental approach, the objective was to support SMEs but also to generate high-quality evidence about the effectiveness of interventions. The fund was designed and delivered in partnership by BEIS, Innovate UK and IGL. Having provided advice on the design, implementation and analysis of trials, IGL is working on an overarching evaluation report to capture and share the findings.
